We had a great time admiring the finished work from some of our Kaffe Fassett Diagonal Madness workshops.

Sandy Jordan named her quilt Saltwater Taffy.  It is hand quilted and features a narrow purple cording to separate the center from the border.

SandyJordan

Cleo Ward's quilt was named by her husband.  It is called Orangeation.  It is machine quilted and features a beautiful flower design in the border.

CleoWard

Denise Stanchek calls her quilt Prozac.  Denise challenged Kaffe and Brandon with her neutral pallette.  The result is striking and beautiful.

DeniseStanchek

Fay Rawls made this quilt for her daughter.  It is called Purple Passion.  After completing the top, Fay decided she wanted to make a smaller version so she trimmed it down and made a pillow with the extra pieces.

FayRawls

Jane Hellwege's quilt is named Those Damned Diagonals.  Jane made good use of her extra squares by using them in the border.  I love the blue color pallette.

JaneHellwege

Janie Fritch shows her sunny, pastel version.

JanieFritch

Jennifer Heynen created this happy quilt.  This is only her second quilt.  The polka dots look great in the corner squares and border.

JenniferHeynen

Pat Dwinnell created this bright version.  Pat plans to add a scrappy border to her quilt.

PatDwinnell

Robin Benson used a warm, fall pallette of color in her quilt.  Robin finished her quilt with some beautiful hand quilting.

RobinBenson

Terri Jarrett's quilt is called "Kaffe Taught Me How".  Terri's fun, scrappy version shows off some great machine quilting.

Classroom

We loved the extra large classroom space.

Brandon Helping   Kaffe Helping

Brandon and Kaffe spent one on one time with every student.

Fall Tree   Lunch Time

The weather was great both days.  Kaffe and Brandon enjoyed lunch outdoors.

They insisted that everyone take a full hour lunch break so that they could look at their projects with fresh eyes after lunch.

Basket of Fabric

Our fabric table had mostly Kaffe fabric available.  Kaffe went through the shop and collected this basket of fabric that he was sure would work perfectly in many of the projects, and indeed it was added to many projects throughout the day.

Adoring Fan

Is a little bit of Kaffe love showing through here?

Creative Process One   Creative Process Two

It's always fun to watch the different ways people create...some are messy and some are neat!

Mary Ellen Quilt

Quilt Janie   Quilt Mary Ann

Quilt Mary   Quilt Sandy

Quilt Shirley   Quilt Jennifer

We can't wait to see the finished projects!!

Genevieve

We just love Genevieve Gail's new fabric collection, Flower Bucket.  Timing is everything and just as we were taking the bolts out of the box, Genevieve walked in the door.  She had no idea that the fabric would be arriving that day and we had no idea that she would be stopping by the shop.  It was the perfect photo op and a fun morning for all!

The First Time Quiltmaking class enjoyed creating one of their first quilts with Robin Cook.

The Classy Ladies Club made a block
from the pattern
Diamond in the Rough
by Debbie Caffrey
for Debbie's Creative Moments.
It is always great fun to see how
different fabric choices
change the look of the block.

The celebration party for the conclusion of our year long Egg Money Club offered some great show and tell.  Each member who brought a completed top was entered into a drawing for a grand prize bag of 30s reproduction fat quarters.

Egg Money teacher Deb Henderson led the group through all of Eleanor Burn's Egg Money tips and tricks.  Here she is with her finished quilt top.  Enjoy these projects shown by her students:

Beautiful results from one of our recent classes.

Robin Cook (third from left) and her students had a fun day learning Eleanor Burns' Day & Night technique.  The foot massage was an added bonus!

We had a great time at our Graduate Your Quilt ceremony on Saturday, June 13.  Here are pictures of all of our graduates and their quilts.

The quilt at the left was made by Sheila Shepard.  The celtic applique was all done by hand and it is fabulously hand quilted.

The quilt on the right was made by Rebecca Macon.  She quilted around each flower motif.  It looks great.

These two quilts were made by Pat Schroder.  The one on the left won third place at the Cotton Patch Quilt Challenge.

Brenda Eick completed this wonderful quilt which is a tribute to her visit to Alaska.

Claudia Hodges graduated this cute quilt which is made from charm squares.

Nell Booth made the quilt on the right.  I love the eagle and all the stars.

The Classy Ladies Club will be making this project at our
meeting on Thursday, April 2.

We're very excited to be welcoming Mary Kay Mouton to the shop on Saturday, May 2.
She recently released her first book Flip Flop Paper Piecing.
We're hosting a book signing for her from 10-11 and she'll
be teaching her new technique from 11-5.
It is wonderful to have creative talent so close to home.

Kathy Ellis stopped by this week to show us this awesome jacket she made.

This quilt is made from the fabric collection Treetop Fancy by Tina Givens for Free Spirit Fabrics.
The pattern is called Sidelights...it is the perfect pattern for showing off large scale prints.

Here's a shop sample from the pattern "It Takes a Village" by Kitambaa Designs.

Denise Stanchek made this beautiful Dresden Plate quilt using a Layer Cake (set of 10-inch squares) from Moda's 9 Sanae fabric collection.

A lovely group of ladies visited the shop last week.  They call themselves the "Baltimore Ladies" and they do fabulous work.  I regret not getting any close up shots of their quilts, but at least you can see a little of what they do.

We had an action packed day while Marti Michell was here teaching "Not Your Grandmother's Hexagon" as part of our shop's second anniversary month long celebration.

Holley Downs gave us this fabulous quilt to celebrate the shop's second birthday! I love it!!

We have some great new shop samples...

Tracy McKinney made this beautiful kids jacket.

Jessica Howard made two fun pillows.

A small group of our quilting friends got together and made these two quilts to start off our new year:

The quilt below is from the book Cool Girls Quilt by Linda Lum DeBono.  I love all of her designs.

This quilt is the sample Deb made for the class "Fun With Billie's Blocks".
It uses techniques from Billie's More Quick Quilt Tricks book and features many Kaffe Fassett fabrics.

Frank and Judy Lawton made these great placemats.

One of our last events for 2008 was a group of girl scouts
who visited the shop and made Smart Bags.

Jessica Howard made this awesome bird quilt.

Jessica made this cute apron, too! The skirt flares just right which gave Jessica the idea of making two apron skirts and putting them together to make a Christmas tree skirt. We can't wait to see the result!

This Dresden Plate wreath, made by Deb Henderson, is the extra project for November's Egg Money Club.

This double wedding ring table runner is the bonus project from October's Egg Money Club. Deb Henderson made this shop sample using a wonderful color palette of batiks.

These cute fat quarter bags were made by the Attitudes Club at their November meeting. They are fast, fun, and perfect for this gift giving season.

These fabulous quilts were all made by Deanna Comeau in our Happy Hour club.

Nell Boothe is the creator of this wonderful rooster quilt.

Sandra Stoehr made this fabulous quilt using Moda's Red, White, and Bold fabric collection.

Julee made this great baby quilt using the Cherry Baby alphabet panel by LakeHouse.

Here is the shop sample of the Contemporary Crossroads Quilt using an alternate border fabric.

Here are the results of the August Attitudes Club meeting.
Our attitude was "Be Smart"...notebook covers are just the project to celebrate.

As always, the Attitudes Club had great fun with their mini-project for the month.

We had lots of successful graduates at our "Graduate Your Quilt" ceremony on June 7.

We had two almost graduates. Both worked very hard during the month but didn't quite finish their project.

And then, there were a couple who weren't even worthy of an "I tried" award. Yes, that's us, Deb and Debora.

This beautiful blue and white quilt was made as a group effort by one of our local guilds.

The Attitudes Club made fabric flowers for their mini-project in May.

This cute purse was made by Holley Downs using all of our favorite University of Georgia prints
and the Patchwork Purse pattern by Indygo Junction.

Each month the Attitudes club makes a mini-project. This month we made seamless pillowcases.

Here's another Happy Hour sucess made by Barbara Wooten!

Here is a work in progress from our recent Missouri Waltz class.

Marti Michell taught Kaleidoscope ABCs in January as part of our one-year celebration. It was great fun to have an internationally known quilter and teacher in the shop. I had to work hard to keep my "fan girl" attitude in check. Here Marti helps one of her students during class.
Thank you, Marti!!

Here is Lily Carter, daughter of Bess Carter, with her first quilt. Great job, Lily!

Our customers make some of the cutest outfits...and they have very cute models as well.
These were made by Shannon O'Rear and are modeled by her daughter.

Here are the results of our New Noel trunk show. Isn't it beautiful?

Sandy Jordan and Barbara Wooten did a great job in the 9-Patch Pizzazz class.

This local Brownie troop shows us the results of their efforts to earn their sewing badge.

Beautiful fabric can make so much more than beautiful quilts.
These gorgeous square dance dresses were created by Margie Foster.

The Peppermint & Holly Berries gang was at it again this week. For "Gifty Goodness" month we made canisters.

We had a great time with Peggy Barkle as she introduced her book Blendable Curves. We enjoyed having her with us along with the creators of three of the quilts pictured in the book: Shirley Erickson, Sarah Hubbard, and Fay Rawls. We wish Peggy much success and can't wait to see what she does next.

This awesome quilt was made by Frances Arnold as a gift for an art teacher.

The Peppermint & Holly Berries Club celebrated Trim the Tree this month with
Santa Ornaments made from a Dresden Plate template.

Happy Hour was lots of fun! Jodie Seila was first to finish her top. This pattern looks great in batiks.

We had a great time while Debbie Caffrey was here at the end of July.
We started with a lecture and trunk show where Debbie shared some
stash organization strategies along with some beautiful quilts.

After the lecture and trunk show, Debbie generously offered to help all the attendees with fabric selection.

The Power Cutting and Scraps to You workshops were both a great success.
Students left with many new skills and project ideas.

Here are the three Debs...Debbie Caffrey, Deb Henderson, and Debora Exum.

Debbie Caffrey was energetic and enthusiastic throughout her stay with us. She was an inspiration to us all.

Thank you, Debbie Caffrey!!!

Young quilters are such and inspiration. This is Kelly, 6 1/2, granddaughter of Lucy Smith. She recently completed one of her first quilts. I love the design and the Lakehouse fabrics. Thanks for sharing with us, Kelly!

This sample was pieced by Debora Exum and is one of the small samples
we put together to represent projects from Debbie Caffrey's books.

This was pieced by Deb Henderson.
The pattern is from the book More Laps from Fats by Ellen Reploge.
The fabric is from Nancy Halvorsen's Star of Wonder collection.

This sample was pieced by Shary Karlin and is one of the small samples
we put together to represent projects from Debbie Caffrey's books.

This quilt is our first exclusively Amy Butler sample.
It was pieced by Deb Henderson and quilted by Pat Horning.
The pattern called for applique in the center panel but Deb used a large print
and fussy cut the pieces so that it looks like one continuous design in the center.

This quilt is one of our first original designs. It's a bit on the wild side but that's the way we like it.
The design and piecing were both done by Deb Henderson.
The main fabric is Kaffe Fasset's Beach Balls.

The Peppermint & Holly Berries Trunk Show arrived early.
The real thing is always better than the picture and this
goes for these completed projects from Nancy Halvorsen's book.
The trunk show will be here until July 20 so stop by while they are here!

This quilt is from the book 40 Quick Cut Quilts and features fabric
from Buggy Barn's In The Pink collection.

This quilt was made by Clare Kranzmann.
The pattern is Bouillibaisse and the fabrics are from Kaffe Fasset.
This pattern can be found in the first issue of Fabric Trends magazine.
It is stunning in both color and design.

This quilt was made by Catherine Hart.
It demonstrates the free motion lace, or thread play technique that she will be teaching
on Friday, August 17.

Here are some of the projects from our Colorwash Landscape Class. Instructor Catherine Hart is on the left, with students Margaret Cooper and Pat Adams. As you can see, the results from the class are a stunning success. Another session of Colorwash Landscape Quilts will be offered in September.

This quilt was made by Duane Exum, husband of owner Debora Exum. He wanted to have a true understanding of what quilting is all about. The pattern is from the book, Laps from Fats by Ellen Reploge, and much of the fabric is from the Spiral Collection by Henry Glass and Gradations by Carol Bryer Fallert for Benartex. It must have been a success...Duane is already thinking about his next quilt.

This is Margaret Cooper holding up a quilt top made by her granddaughter, Anna Millians. Anna started this quilt when she was eight. She's now eleven. This is an awesome quilt. We think Anna has quite a future as a quilter, and can't wait to see her next project.

This is our first quilt for the Clothesline Club. The piecing was a collaborative effort among the staff, with Deb Henderson doing the final assembly and quilting. Join this club and you will receive this pattern in your welcome package. The fabric in this quilt is from Darlene Zimmerman's first collection for the Clothesline Club. There will be four collections for this club, with a new one being delivered each quarter.

This table runner is just one example of the things we'll be doing in the Peppermint & Holly Berries club. The theme for our first meeting in July is set the table. This is the first of several patterns that club members will receive. This sample was made using fabric from Moda's Let It Snow collection.

We can't get enough of these pillowcases. They go together so fast and make great gifts.
You can personalize them with a name or initials or choose a word that says it all like our "dream" sample shown here.

We had some great food during our Clothesline Club Kick Off party! Staff member Barbara Wyatt made some great sticky buns. She's going to share the recipe with us so look for it in the July newsletter. The whole family got involved in the day. Deb Henderson's husband baked our afternoon snack of chocolate chip cookies. We topped it off with grape Kool-Aid. Do you remember the days when Kool-Aid was your number one drink of choice?

Here is the well-aproned staff ready to meet all your Clothesline Club needs.
From left to right, Erica Exum, Debora Exum, Deb Henderson, and Barbara Wyatt.

These nifty wooden tools are Cold Seam Presses. They are great when you need to do a quick press of something in a class or at home. Save your fingernails and try one of these. They are made by local craftsman Jim Underwood. Customers have had many positive comments about the finish on them. They are satin smooth and the natural wood coloring is beautiful.
