Welcome

Magic Vine Club Party

The Magic Vine Club

March is finally here and that means the grand finale completion party for the Magic Vine Club.  We are a little sad to see it end but we are looking forward to seeing everyone's projects.  This will really be a celebration of our club members' creativity.  They have had some brilliant ideas for using their "magic" flowers - handbags, placemats, notebooks, table runners, small quilts, large quilts, and embellishments on previous quilts.  It will be a treat to see them all!

In the 1930’s, a syndicated newspaper column ran nationwide under the title of the “Nancy Page Quilt Club”.  One of the quilts Ms. Nancy featured was the Magic Vine flower quilt.  Years later, Eleanor Burns published her own version in her book “The Magic Vine Quilt”.  Eleanor has translated all 22 patterns from the original quilt in her book into today’s quilting terms.  In the club we’ll look at the flower patterns, we’ll discuss various quilts and other projects to make from the patterns and we’ll also look at a variety of appliqué techniques, beading and other embellishments, color schemes, and curved and scalloped borders.  There are templates provided and two fuse kits available for the flower designs.  The main thing to bring to this project is a little imagination and the willingness to try a new idea.
